“Navigating through two parked pickup trucks in my parking lot I tripped, stumbled forward. My right arm fell into the wheel well of the jumbo pickup on the right while my body continued forward. Jerked at the shoulder, an intensive sharp pain shouted BIG TROUBLE. I crawled back upright cursing the distraction that caused my stumble, but with only my left arm.

The right was as useless as if it had been chopped off. It dangled down with radiating pain in the shoulder. First reaction was panic—now what? Instant diagnosis: rotator cuff damage. Instant prognosis: incurable, life-long disability. I could not move my arm one inch. It was total. It just dangled.

My new client/friend in Australia, Glen G, says such a wound includes the supraspinatus tendon which is called “Frozen Shoulder.”

By mid-December all pain spasms ended. Limited lift returned—I could hold a fork to eat if I ducked down to plate level like a dog. By Christmas I could lift my coffee cup off my desk with just discomfort.

By New Years I had limited steering wheel two handed driving. The silica gel application had gone down to just 10 or so whole shoulder smears per day. NO pain. Lift half a gallon of water; about 4 pounds.

As I write this on February 5, 2011 I can steer with just my right hand, lift 15 pounds with ease. Only discomfort when I rotate my arm in lifting it straight out or up. Sleep for hours on my right shoulder without distress. On a scale of 1-10 with ten as normal, I am at 9.0.
